A Greener View

At The Bay View Inn we take being an integral part of the local community and our environmental impact very seriously.

The Bay View Inn and the Community

Started by the previous owners of The Bay View, the very generous Keene family, we will continue to financially support and champion local charitable causes.

This includes hosting regular charitable events in house or getting involved in events and activities undertaken by charities and groups in the local area.

Wherever possible, we always source goods and services from local suppliers. Sure, we have to stock the usual suspects in terms of beers and some food items, but wherever we can we strive to showcase the best the South West has to offer.

The Bay View Inn and the Environment

We are totally committed to reducing our impact on the environment. Solar panels and a biomass boiler were installed a few years ago to reduce the energy consumption needs of this place; bear in mind, The Bay View Inn is over 100 years old so we have a way to go, but it’s a great start!

Food waste is a global problem. So to play our modest part, all food waste is carefully collected by our awesome kitchen team and recycled to be used by local farmers to organically improve local soil conditions.

We are constantly exploring ways to reduce our dependence on single-use plastics, working internally and with our suppliers to raise our collective game. Yes, that does mean that we no longer stock plastic straws.

We regularly litter-pick our grounds as well as Widemouth Bay beach too.
